BuzzCanTweet: Automatically Share Google Buzz Posts On Twitter

I’m sure we’ll be seeing many more services like this popping up.

Amplifyd from www.makeuseof.com

We recently told you how to integrate Twitter with Google Buzz by importing your Twitter contacts to Buzz. BuzzCanTweet takes it one step further by letting you share your Google Buzz posts on Twitter. To get started, sign in with your Google Buzz account and your Twitter credentials. After that, whenever you want to share a Buzz post on Twitter, just include the #Twitter hashtag with your post.

If your post is more than 140 characters, your Twitter followers will see a link, clicking on which will show them the complete post including links, images and videos. There is one catch though; if you have connected your Twitter and Google Buzz accounts, the post will find its way to your Google Buzz again. A quick solution to that is disabling your Twitter connection on Buzz, but the developer promises a permanent solution soon.

Thought Update:  Why does every hiccup I encounter on a project, whether it's a website layout or functionality, start with "micro" and end with "soft?" Everything from IE to IIS to XP...99% of the time it's an issue related to a MS product.

BREAKING AWAY FROM GENERATION “NOW”

Success takes time, patience, and commitment. It rarely happens overnight. And your idea of “success” might be different than everyone else’s.

Your passions shouldn’t lie in what anyone else is telling you or what anyone else is doing – and your goals shouldn’t be bench-marked on societies – at times – ridiculous expectations.

I admire the heck out what many of my fellow Gen-Yers have accomplished, but this “now, now, now” attitude is brainwashing us to think that if you’re doing ANYTHING less than your most idealistic dream, you’re “settling”.

You get the point. The fact is there’s a REAL world out there with REAL people who are doing everything they can possibly think of to live the dream – and it isn’t glamorous – it’s not working from a beach in Europe – it’s living in a tiny one bedroom apartment eating Ramen while you work an hourly job to save up money for that coffee shop you want to open someday. It’s sacrifice – and a willingness to accept that it may not be “now” but it WILL BE the future.

3 Ways To Use Google Reader As An Online Archive

My first article on MakeUseOf.com about some of the ways you can use Google Reader for more than just reading blogs.

Amplifyd from www.makeuseof.com

Google Reader is not only one of the best RSS feed aggregators out there, but it can also be used as a powerful system to archive rss feed data you may want to access in the future. Anything that has an RSS feed can be backed up and archived with Google Reader for access long after the feed is gone. Here are just a few ideas on the types of data you can archive this way.

Archive Your Tweets

Archive the RSS Feed of Your Blog Content

Archive Your To-Do List

Is This What Passion, Perseverance, Dedication, and/or Crushing It Looks Like???

Amplifyd from www.anywhereman.com

I have no idea how to accurately title this post. Last night I was going through some of the amazing videos on Vimeo’s Documentary channel and came across this one. Just watch it (it’s about 5 minutes long) and comment back with any words you can think of to describe it.

Whatever you’d call this, it inspires me to ignore temporary or even permanent setbacks in pursuit of an end goal. Kudos to Sean Mullens for a well-done mini-documentary.

Interview: Working Naked With Lisa Kanarek

Lisa has some great advice for anyone thinking of working from home. She knows her stuff!

Amplifyd from www.anywhereman.com

Lisa Kanarek wins the AnywhereMan Award for my favorite blog title: Working Naked. Lisa is a home office expert who puts on seminars, writes books, and offers consulting to companies and individuals wishing to have an aspect of working from home in their operations.

Lisa is also the subject of my first AnywhereMan interview. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know her a little bit better through her blog, this interview, and even a guest post I wrote for her last week. She truly is a working-from-home expert and I think you’ll really enjoy this interview…minus me, the newbie, learning how to facilitate an interview. Good thing Lisa is a seasoned pro!

You CAN get the website you want

My guest post over at WorkingNaked.net, a great blog for those of us who work from home.

Amplifyd from www.workingnaked.net

#266-Dave webAs a web developer, I’m often asked how much it costs to build a website. If you want a simple and generic website that doesn’t do much, it can be relatively cheap. If you want something custom with beautiful design and interactive features that will really appeal to your site’s visitors, it gets a bit more expensive. Here are a few tips to set expectations up front and get exactly the website you want.

Share Examples of Sites You Like.
Show Your Existing Stuff.
Have Some Ideas.
Think About the User.
Determine the Essential Pieces

The more you can plan up front, the smoother the website development process will be. These tips will help both you and your designer visualize the website that you really want and put you on the path to a successful site launch.

The Masterpiece of a Job Well Done

Latest from AnywhereMan.com…

Amplifyd from www.anywhereman.com

Looking at this photo, I realize how much of an artist a beaver is. From huts and dams right down to the pattern of teeth marks on a downed tree, the evidence of the beaver’s hard work is beautiful. Beavers were made for chewing and building. They excel at that, and thus their job-well-done becomes a work of art.

I love experiencing the final result of people doing what they do best. Something as simple as the pancakes made by the top cook at the local cafe to the skyscraper designed by a famous architect to the simple but powerful WordPress plugin developed by a tinkering high-school student. Experiencing excellence, whether simple or complex, never gets old.
